Wish Jars – An Alternative to the Guest Book

June 2nd by Winnie

For a friend’s wedding back in 2006, I created a ‘wish tree’.  I bought curly willow branches and stems of hypericum berries for the actual “tree”.  I also cut and mounted handmade paper onto red card stock and embossed each card with the couple’s monogram.  Then I manually hole-punched each card and looped ribbon through so that guests can tie the cards to the branches after they write their wishes for the newlyweds.  I had a lot of fun with this project, despite developing carpal tunnel from all the hole-punching and embossing, but if this sounds like a pain to you and you really like the idea of a wish tree for your wedding, the wish jar might be perfect for you.

It’s the same idea, but with no work involved.  You can buy everything from wishjars.com.  They offer the decorative jar in a few different sizes, lovely note cards and envelopes from which you can choose one that matches your event.  I’m more of a DIY girl myself…but I think this is a great alternative if you don’t have time or just don’t want to do the work.  By the way, the wish jar, or wish tree could double as the guest book.  It’s also more interesting to look at and will definitely be more fun to read.
