Engagement Photo Ideas to Inspire

June 22nd, 2009 by Silvia

I’ve always been intrigued by great engagement sessions. They’re a great way for the couple to get to know their photographer and also to show off parts of themselves that they might not be able to do in their wedding. I’ve been seeing a lot of great sessions lately that just blew my mind and thought that they could make great inspiration for your engagement party favors or wedding favors.

First off, check out these amazing underwater sessions. If you’re a fan of trash the dress pictures, but don’t particularly relish the thought of ruining your wedding gown, why not try it out for your e-session instead? Some bottled water favors would be the perfect way to reminisce about your e-session.

These next two take place in unusual locations, but also incorporate the use of silhouettes, which lends the pictures a romantic feel. Aren’t they stunning? Silhouettes have been very trendy in weddings lately, so why not mix up the trend a bit by incorporating your silhouette pictures in your favors such as these glass photo coasters.

Sometimes the use of props can definitely help set your pictures apart. I love the ice cream cones and popcorn. The couple hiding behind the books is classic, and making use of your backdrop is always great, such as the framing element that is provided by the wooden posts and carousel. Use your props as inspiration for your favors. For example, give your guests some popsicle soap favors, caramel corn, or your favorite book.

Here’s another use of props that brings things up another level. Just by looking at these pictures, you get the feeling that all of these couples are extremely playful and totally fun to be around! Let your guests join in the fun at your wedding by setting up different game stations or naming your tables after popular board games and using those as centerpieces. For favors, give your guests mini gumball machines to bring out the kid in them.

If all else fails, use some bright clothing to stand out from the crowd. I love the way the pink and blue really stand out from the background. Incorporate this same color into your wedding colors and then give your guests some hand fans or parasols in that shade.

In these pictures, the photographer used the lighting to lend the session a dreamy feel. The locations were also perfectly chosen. What could be more romantic than playing a guitar in a vast meadow or rowing a boat in the middle of a lake. Absolutely stunning! These pictures look as if they were straight from a romantic movie or book, so write out your own epic love story, bind it, and present it as a gift to your guests, leaving room at the end for them to write out their own love story.
