In Spain, orange blossoms are considered a sign of happiness and fulfillment and so brides traditionally wear them in their hair, place them in their bouquets, and use them in their wedding decorations. Embrace the custom and this summer plan your wedding completely around those delicious and oh so ubiquitous fruits. Secure the location in an orange grove or a lovely Spanish style villa.

Decorate the space with pink and orange flowers including orange blossoms, pink roses, and scores of peonies and daisies. Use some wooden crates as centerpieces, and tie into the grove theme by securing some baskets and galvanized pails as unique flower vases.

As an extra touch, tie a wooden swing onto one of the tree’s branches and string some lights along the rope to light up the evening and tie some over-sized orange balloons around the grove. Use some colorful ribbon to tie your napkins in place and as accents on your chairs and on the trees and use multi-colored paper for your programs.

For the meal, serve some fresh tomatoes tossed with basil and balsamic vinegar, poached eggs, fresh fruits and vegetables, and for dessert, top your cake with some fresh orange slices or have guests paint their own cake with various colors of frosting. Don’t forget to serve some mimosas or fizzy orange drinks.

Finally, wear a light orange gown or dress your maids in one, and don gold shoes as well as orange blossoms and poppies in your hair.
