How to Plan a Spooky Halloween Wedding
October 14th, 2008 by SilviaI am absolutely obsessed with Halloween. In fact, I think that no matter how old you are, you should always dress in costume. Also, for me Halloween marks the beginning of the holiday season. So, in the spirit of one of my favorite holidays, I thought I’d provide you all with some ideas to create your very own Halloween wedding.
Remember the changing pictures in the Haunted Mansion ride at Disneyland? Check out the huge selection of those at the Ghoulish Gallery. This’ll be a sure-fire way to scare your guests. The decoration ideas are endless. Check out these adorable glittery skulls from Rose’s Petite Maison or that amazing headless lady! Why not add an old fashioned quill pen and a guest book with burned edges or have your guests pose for pictures with the grim reaper?
For the reception, you can incorporate some yummy finger foods, such as these pretzel fingers, and red pepper and cheese dip, that are not only yummy, but fit in very nicely with the theme.
Aren’t these decanters absolutely delicious– in a blood-sucking vampire sort of way? And speaking of vampires, these bat cups would be perfect for coffee or hot cocoa during dessert. Thank you design sponge! Aside from wine, consider creating your own Halloween cocktails, such as these from the Hostess Blog, in “bloody” or spider-web covered martini glasses. You might also consider placing some wine goblet placecard holders with dry ice inside for an eerie yet functional effect.

Speaking of dessert, consider having a caramel apple assembly line with different toppings in orange and black. And check out these amazing creations by Amy Atlas. Her work has made its way around the blogs, but these treats are almost too cute to eat! Also, check out our own pumpkin brownie favor pops or personalized fall cookies to give away as halloween wedding favors.
If you’d rather not have a full-blown costume party, tone it down a bit and have a masquerade ball instead with these fabulous Halloween masks. Hang a personalized wedding gift tag on it to let your guests know it’s theirs to keep.
Or have a goth style wedding, such as this one that Wishpot Weddings featured. Try using a black birdcage veil, or have your groomsmen wear these old-fashioned silk scarves instead of ties. And of course no goth wedding would be complete without a goth-y venue.
