Twilight Wedding Theme
June 29th, 2009 by SilviaI’ll admit it: I am a Twilight geek. I’ve read all the books (more than once) and will be standing in line for the premiere of New Moon along with all the teeny boppers. Obviously all the vampire and werewolf stuff is cool, but what really intrigues me is the bond between Bella and Edward– their everlasting love. Maybe I’m just a hopeless romantic, but if you like Twilight as much as I do, you could consider having a Twilight inspired wedding. Unlike some blog posts I’ve read, a Twilight theme doesn’t have to be corny and overdone. It can have some simple touches that can hint at the more romantic aspects of the movie or book.

Bridesmaids dresses: Edward’s favorite color on Bella was blue, so dress your bridesmaids in blue gowns, and add touches of blue to your own dress (consider tying a blue ribbon around your waist, or on your hair, use sapphire jewelry, etc.). Purchase a vintage style gown or incorporate lace and other vintage adornments.Have your groom wear a traditional tuxedo.

The Twilight soundtrack has some great songs on it for a party and the instrumental music is gorgeous as well. You might consider having Bella’s lullaby or Clair de Lune for your wedding processional, or make reference to Edward by hiring a pianist for the cocktail hour. To get everybody dancing, incorporate tracks from the soundtrack like songs from Mute Math, Muse, and Paramore along with some of your other favorites. You could even give your guests a mix CD with your favorite songs and don’t forget to create your own personalized CD labels.

Host your ceremony at sunset, so that your outdoor reception can start at dusk. This is to appease your vampire friends. Program your wedding date for a night that has a full moon (or close to one) to make reference to Bella’s werewolf friends. For your decor, be sure to include lots of twinkle lights, as well as plenty of white flowers everywhere. The Cullens love clean, light colors, and elegant touches like chandeliers so be sure to have plenty of lush white flowers for centerpieces and around your lighting. Place your flowers atop classic books from the 1800s such as Wuthering Heights (one of Bella’s favorites) or even on top of copies of the Twilight books (if you don’t mind the distractions they’ll provide to your female guests! Surround your flowery centerpieces with plenty of candles in diamond shaped holders and a crystal heart paperweight that resembles the charm that Edward gave Bella.

To make reference to the vampires incorporate a hint of red by placing a single red rose to adorn your guests plates and to serve as place cards. Make reference to the vampires by serving red drinks like cranberry martinis and have your caterer create a crisp salad with red apple slices to reference the apple on the cover of Twilight. For favors, give your guests bride and groom caramel apples so they can take home their own piece of forbidden fruit or purchase individual red drinks (like red soda) and customize them with personalized labels that make reference to Twilight– perhaps with one of the quotes below. For the food, serve your guests some Italian food– to reference the first time Bella visits the Cullens at home or the first time she has dinner with Edward. Name your tables after Cullen and Swan family members as well as Werewolves (depending on the number of tables).

Pick your favorite line from the movie and incorporate it in your wedding, such as using it on your wedding favors, printing it on your personalized wedding napkins, and reading it in your vows. Here are some of my favorites:
- “When you can live forever, what do you live for?”
- “I Promise to love You Forever- Every Single Day of Forever.”
- “You are my life now.”
- “I’ll always want you. Forever.”
- “Look after my heart. I have left it with you.”
Here are some good ones for your vows:
- “He grinned his crooked smile at me, stopping my breath and my heart. I couldn’t imagine how an angel could be any more glorious. There was nothing about him that could be improved upon.”
- “Before you, my life was like a moonless night. Very dark, but there were stars — points of light and reason. And then you shot across my sky like a meteor. Suddenly everything was on fire; there was brilliancy, there was beauty. When you were gone, when the meteor had fallen over the horizon, everything went black. Nothing had changed, but my eyes were blinded by the light. I couldn’t see the stars anymore. And there was no more reason for anything.”

Make your getaway in a flashy sports car like the Cullens prefer (like Alice’s yellow Porsche) and have your guests see you off with sparklers to illuminate the Cullens dazzling skin.

Finally, for your wedding favors, give your guests some red candy hearts within elegant favor boxes or photo biscottis with a picture of you and your new husband emulating one of the iconic Twilight poses.

I agree. I haven’t even seen Twilight yet but these images are gorgeous. I really love the couple walking thru the sparklers. I so wish that sparklers were legal in MA! They make for the best pictures.

I have read some twilight wedding theme posts before but none like yours. You wrote this twilight theme in such a way that most brides may find your theme really dramatic and carried with a great style! I love it…

if you read the beginning of breaking dawn (the fourth book), it shows you how edward and bella got married and it describes how the ceremony and the reception looked liked.

I too am getting married on August 13th, 2010. YAY Friday the 13th. I am a Twilight addict and I am planning on having a Twilight themed wedding…like the one in Breaking Dawn…just enough of it there that I know about though others might not catch on. I love all of these ideas! The only real thing I am stuck with is that in the books Bella describes Alice’s bridesmaids dress as a silvery waterfall….I am in love with the silver idea and it is a good color for all of my bridesmaids…but I am having trouble finding something that I am really in love with. Any ideas?
