To Trash the Dress, Or not to Trash the Dress?

December 8th, 2008 by Silvia

I am consistently amazed by all the trash the dress pictures out there. The scenery is usually incredible, and mixed in with the beautiful gowns, it just gives it such an ethereal quality. I’ve been wanting to feature some of my favorite pictures for quite some time now, and I finally decided to post them (Thanks Wedding Chicks for the inspiration and the Trash the Dress site for most of the images). After seeing these images, would you consider trashing your dress?

How beautiful is this setting? I wouldn’t be surprised if little fairies popped out from one of the trees.

This bride looks so relaxed. I love all the lily pads.

What’s a trash the dress shoot without a couple frolicking on the beach?

The combination of the smoke and clouds gives this shoot such a nice touch. I also like the bride pretending to fix the car!

What a gorgeous veil! I love how it seems to go on forever in the water.

So pretty!

Is it just me or does this bride look a little like a wood nymph all tucked into the trees roots like that?

These plane pictures are pretty cool. I love the concept. This definitely reminds me of that vintage-inspired wedding getaway shoot that took place at an airplane hangar.

I really like this one.

I love this couple’s shoot. They seem so tiny in the middle of the forest, and I love the fact that they’re both floating in the water. It looks so peaceful.

This looks like a lot of fun, and the canoe ride looks so romantic!

I think this is my favorite picture. If I was going to do a TTD, I would definitely have to have a picture like this. Doesn’t it remind you of the scene in Anne of Green Gables where Anne pretends to be the fair lily maiden Elaine? Beautiful!

By the way, I know that there are some concerns that trashing your wedding dress isn’t exactly the most eco-friendly way to get rid of your gown, but it sure beats leaving it to collect dust in your closet. However, be on the lookout for some green things you can do to decrease your carbon footprint in your wedding including purchasing eco-friendly wedding favors and purchasing locally. Until next time!

I think the whole concept of Trash The Dress is really cool allowing the newly weds to express themselves in any way they wish.

These pictures are really excellent, I especially like the first one with water fall and reflections in the water, the bride sitting in front of tree with aerial roots and the last image of bride laying in water :-)

I love the idea of Trash the Dress because it’s a great way for the couple (or specifically the bride) to celebrate the wedding after all the stress of planning it. While the dress is iconic and most will preserve it, those that choose to “trash” it will have some amazing photographs to include with their wedding album. These photo shoots are usually way more relaxed and the settings (as shown above!) are a lot more fun than what’s traditionally selected on the day of the wedding.

Oh..yay! I love this idea also. These pics are great. I love the plane pics and the one in the canoe. I really want to do one of these sessions….just trying to decide where!

wow these pictures are amazing. Thanks for taking the time to sort them and and publish on your blog. Especially this one on the beach. What is more important you can see the love on most of them.I wish there were photographers that good when I was getting married

Actually, most of these dresses don’t look “trashed” too badly. Most of them could probably be cleaned by a professional and be good as new. I wish I could remember where I saw the photo of the bride riding a huge pig in a mud puddle. Now THAT is trashed! [wink] And, kinda gross.
