For
wine lovers, share your passion and knowledge of fine wines
by having a wine-themed reception. Grapes, wine bottles, wine
glasses, all make great motifs. For decorations, think rustic
vineyard colors, like sage, burgundy, and earth tones. Instead
of an open bar, have wine tasting stations where your guests
can select their own glass of wine for dinner. For wine themed party
favors, give a beautiful swarovski crystal wine
bottle stopper, a bottle of your favorite wine presented in a beautiful engraved wine box, or set of designer vineyard wine charms.
TRAVEL
For
globetrotting couples, why not throw a reception that showcases
some of your travel adventures. Represent some of your favorite
faraway destinations with food and beverages, music, and decorations
from that region. Designate a country for each table, and
accent it with colors, flowers, or miniature flags of the
country. If you've collected souvenirs, put them on display
along with some of your favorite photographs of the two of
you at an exotic locale. For party favors, consider giving
an elegant, silver-plated airplane luggage
tag
or an
elegant travel candle
, both of which your guests can use on their
own future travels. Other travel related favor
ideas include
travel clocks
and custom travel tea tins.
GOLF
For
avid golfers, a reception centered on the theme of golf can
add a little light-hearted fun to the wedding. For table numbers,
use flagpoles like the ones found on a course to designate
the number hole. Each table could have it's own "hazard".
A centerpiece of large, shallow vases filled with water and
some floating blossoms can be a water hazard. And a sand trap
can be created with a few oblong-shaped trays filled with
sand. Provide guests with a scorecard and a golf scoring pencil,
and invite them to share their thoughts on the wedding, and
write a personal note to the newlyweds. The cards can take
the place of the traditional guest book sign-in. For golf themed favors,
give something everyone can use, like a golfer's
key chain, a golf ball stopper
or a personalized golf themed mint tin. As the couple leaves the reception, send them
off with a saber arch like they do in military weddings, but
instead of swords, make an arch of golf clubs.
MUSIC
Whether
you're a gifted musician with music flowing in your veins,
or just a great appreciator of good music, pay tribute by
having a music-themed reception. Name tables for your favorite
musicians, and set note cards with facts and interesting tidbits
about the artist and his work at each place setting. Use darling drum place card holders
to hold your seating cards. For favors,
a personalized CD
of your favorite music makes a great memento.
