Bridal showers, rehearsal dinners, bachelor and bachelorette parties - with all the side events you'll have going on following your engagement, it's hard to remember you've actually got a wedding to prepare for.
Still, though, you don't have to hire a state-of-the-art photographer to take your engagement photos a-la-William-and-Kate in order to kick off the start of the celebration rounds. Many pre-wedding events don't bring the entire group together, yet an engagement party will have everyone there to commemorate the start of a special journey.
The best part? You don't have to go crazy with the planning, since just a night at the bar or dinner party will suffice.
You can get more creative with engagement party favors and decor. Guests will enjoy a (non?) intentional pun or two, so give out tins of personalized "engage mints" or two peas in a pod salt and pepper shakers. A diamond ring wine stopper will stop everyone in their tracks - at least until they figure out that you're the only one with a real rock on her finger.
