For years, baby showers have been raptly focused on the dichotomy between pink and blue.
What if keeping hush-hush on baby's gender could provide an unexpected, refreshing twist to your event? Maybe your friends will be disappointed for having to skip on the color mandate or banners boasting "It's a Boy," but at least that'll get them thinking outside the (gift) box.
MomLogic.com's Jill Simonian is all for the mystery, and says some of the biggest reasons for keeping a baby's gender secret involve the spectacle of surprise, the practical, unisex gifts that are sure to come pouring in, and a mom-to-be's ability to focus on what's really important.
"Even the most jaded friends and family will be much more intrigued about your pregnancy. Everyone will have a wacky old wives' tale to tell you (i.e., how you're carrying, if you're "glowing" enough to be having a boy, what your Chinese birth chart says, etc.)," writes Simonian.
And, if nothing else, it will provide wonderful fodder for games and entertainment. Clues regarding baby's gender will make excellent questions for baby shower trivia games and bingo.
