What's one throwback wedding idea that is supposedly all the rage this year? Think jazz-era glitz and glam, served on the rocks with a little olive on the side. According to Indianapolis wedding planner Josh Gurvitz, old-fashioned cocktail receptions are a major hit in 2011, The Indianapolis Star reports.
"A Rat Pack cocktail reception is a cool new way to show your style," Gurvitz told the news source. "Couples can skip the sit-down dinner and go for more of a supper club-style cocktail party instead. Think big band music, heavy appetizers, and old-fashioned cocktails, like Manhattans, sidecars and my all-time favorite, dirty martinis."
You can incorporate some retro spirit in your decorations as well - mint julep cups can double pretty well as table centerpieces and fancy drinking cups that guests can take home as wedding favors after the festivities.
Reminding your loved ones of the good ol' days won't be hard with some strategic nameplates, either. Antique acrylic place card frames will offer a stunning presentation and make a great take-away favor as well.
