Couple to wed in Times Square on New Year's Eve

With the eyes of the world watching, Geoffrey Dubie and Bethany Phillips will tie the knot in Times Square on New Year's Eve (provided no one drops the ball on their ceremony).

The Marine couple, who met during their service in Iraq, won the opportunity to shine in the limelight through a contest. Though they had to travel a grueling 19 hours due to blizzard set-backs, Dubie was all smiles. As he put it to the New York Daily News, "we're just so glad to be here."

At the moment, their florist, photographer and make-up artist are all nowhere in sight, thanks to this week's legendary snowfall and its particular blow to New York City.

Whether or not all the pros do show up, a New Year's Eve wedding is its own sort of special event and calls for unique decor and wedding favors.

Gold champagne flutes and a cake server set will set the mood for a gilded occasion, as will shiny platinum fortune cookies with prophesied good tidings for the upcoming year.
