Flower power baby shower

We think most would agree, there is no better way to celebrate the future arrival of a bouncing baby than by throwing a sweet summertime garden-themed shower for the mom-to-be. Representing beauty, nature and the circle of life, gardens are symbols of the opportunities for new beginnings we get in life and perfectly represent everything that is lovely and sweet in this world. If you're looking to throw a garden-fresh baby shower for the future mom in your life, here are some tips that can help to get you started.

Invitations. Sending out invitations that contain actual flower seeds can help to get guests in the party mood and is an easy way to use eco-friendly materials as party invites. Use flower designs to accentuate your party's theme with a simple message like, "A new blessing is about to spring up!" or "Sunshine and bugs, sweet-smelling flowers - help us celebrate a baby shower!"

Decorations. Decorating for a garden party can be extremely easy and inexpensive with a little bit of planning. Using as many flower details as possible, fill the room with small touches that highlight the garden theme, like mini rose topiary centerpieces and butterfly place card holders. Create simple napkin holders in the shapes of flowers using construction paper and a stencil and display vases of different sizes around the room filled with flowers that match your color scheme. Set up a station where guests can paint store-bought flower pots to take home for a fun baby shower activity.

Food. There's no better way to celebrate a garden shower than by throwing a mini-picnic (just don't make your guests sit on the floor to eat). Set the table with a checkered table cloth and glass jars wrapped in bright ribbon for fun drink containers. Serve a variety of finger foods, like small sandwiches, cookies and cakes and chips or crackers served in miniature favor pails for a fun touch. "Mud pie" is a yummy garden shower treat that will wow guests - to make your own, alternate layers of crushed up oreo cookies with chocolate pudding in small flower pots, adding gummy worms or critters into the mix for a fun surprise.

Favors. Send guests home with special garden variety treats like homemade jams, mini flower pot pen favors or vases filled with flowers from the party.
