Now that we've officially crossed the threshold of May, we're that much closer to the unofficial start of summer, which typically kicks off with Memorial Day weekend. This means one thing and one thing only - grill, baby, grill. To that, we can only add - plan, coordinate, celebrate.

If you haven't already had your first grilling party this year, there's no better time than the present. With less rain on the forecast and more picture-perfect, sunny days to come, it won't be too hard to find the right Saturday or Sunday afternoon to invite over all of your friends and neighbors for some burgers, steaks, bratwursts and veggies.

It's important to take all dietary matters into consideration. Burgers and hotdogs are the ultimate all-American fare, but if you have any vegetarians on the guest list, make sure to stock up on some tempeh or veggie burgers. Above all, be sure to mix it up and be a little adventurous. Grilled veggies (corn, especially) are a must, and you'll be that much more popular if you decide to throw a few pineapple slices on there as well.

As a parting shot, remember that summer may be fleeting, but you can keep the spirit of grill season alive. Offer guests favor bags filled with spatulas or kitchen utensils - a personalized grillmaster apron would be an excellent item to splurge on for your nearest and dearest.
