Long Island couple renews vows on 70th anniversary

Folks who have had their spirits dashed by the ever-expanding divorce rates may have something to hang their hopes on, as one couple in Long Island has been enjoying marital bliss for longer than most of us have even been alive.

John and Louise Rienzo, 93 and 94, respectively, recently renewed their vows to mark the occasion of their 70th wedding anniversary, the New York Daily News reports.

Their secret? "We never go to bed angry. We always kiss and make up," John confided to the news source.

Maybe the couple won't have Jackie Gleason emceeing their anniversary party this time around, but they can celebrate the landmark in high style, sending guests home with a little token of appreciation that also serves to remind them of the power of togetherness.

"Perfect pair" pear soap favors and love birds salt and pepper shakers would make inventive gifts in the form of clever puns, while glass photo coasters featuring pictures of the couple through the years will by cherished by all for many years to come.
