Make mingling a top wedding priority

It's easy to get sidetracked by a million and one inconsequential things in the midst of your wedding planning. Between organizing floral arrangements, hiring a videographer and making sure you've got enough matching linens, the worthy effort of orchestrating a set-up that's conducive to conviviality might get lost in the shuffle.

Because weddings are about gathering your nearest and dearest, make it a priority at your event to get all of your guests to mix and mingle. You're likely to have people there from all walks of life, so don't be afraid to encourage socializing amongst your various groups of relations.

This could mean anything from a few strategic seating arrangements to arranging your cocktail hour in a way that's most likely to get people talking. Of course, it's a considerate move to seat each person with at least one or two other people they're likely to feel comfortable with, but you can include at least two different social groups per table so that each guest can branch out without feeling isolated.

Leaving blatant "conversation starter" cards or scripts on the table may be too corny, but there's no reason why you can't be more subtle about it. Choose table centerpieces and wedding favors that are apt to get your guests' tongues wagging.
