Wedding etiquette: On saying thanks

Navigating the creation of your wedding registry is complicated enough, but couples shouldn't rest on their laurels once the gifts come flooding in. There's a rhyme and a reason to delivering thanks, whether you do so in the form of thank you notes, wedding favors or a combination of both.

To err on the side of caution, it's best to do both - that way, guests will get a little something to take home with them after the ceremony dies down and a little reminder of your ongoing thanks after the excitement has subsided.

"Keep thank-you notes personal (mention the gift or what you plan to purchase with the money) and brief," Kentucky.com suggests. "Try to send out thank-yous...within two weeks of getting them...Get thank-yous out for the rest of the presents within a month of when you return from your honeymoon."

As for wedding favors, the best way to get your gratitude across is to keep things similarly intimate and thoughtful. Personalized wedding favors can run the gamut from sophisticated wine sets, fun novelty items or delicious edible wedding favors.
