Winter weddings more the rage?

As wintry climes near, brides are noticing a bit of a freeze on their wallets that has led them to embrace the unlikely wedding season.

Debenhams, the U.K.'s second largest department store chain, found in a research study that more couples are saving money by marrying in the winter.

The week starting December 26th, which includes New Year's Eve, is now as popular as the previous wedding peak - the first week of July. Winter weddings are up 28 percent overall, the study suggests.

"These days, a white wedding could easily mean the appearance of snow on the big day as much as the bride's dress," said Debenhams spokesperson Ruth Attridge.

Attridge also mentioned that marrying off-season may result in a more generous heaping of gifts - whether due to fewer weddings or holiday sentimentality we're not sure - but winter-wed couples can return the gesture by letting wedding favors overfloweth their cup.

Make the most of the season by offering guests snowflake-shaped favors that will cozy up their homes. Snowflake tea light holders and glass coasters are a delectable example, as are tea sachets and hot cocoa.
