Beautiful baby shower decorations and ideas

Although every baby shower host wants to dazzle the mom-to-be and her guests, it can be difficult to begin decorating for a modern baby shower bash without first selecting a theme to guide the day's events. With so many adorable decorations available for showers, themes can help to narrow down the selection of items, making party planning easier for overwhelmed individuals. If you're looking for fun and unique shower decorations, here are some ideas that can help you throw a beautiful (and inexpensive) celebration.

Formal theme.
When throwing a shower that is formal in theme, decorations should be simple and modest and should reflect a modern and updated aesthetic. Set a long table with a formal cloth and place settings, using engraved glass vase centerpieces filled with freshly cut flowers and mini silver "love bird" place card holders. Group sets of balloons in pink and silver or pink and blue near each event station or by the snack table and entrance for a uniform design. These types of events usually have a sit-down dinner rather than the typical finger-food menu, so a meal of at least two courses should be cooked beforehand or ordered through a professional catering service.

Animal theme.
Baby showers that use animal themes are generally less formal and more 'cutesy,' so decorations can be more eclectic and varied. Try using mini jungle animal candles to line the parties buffet with disposable animal shaped plates and animal-related food items like brownie pals and animal crackers. Colored streamers and ribbons can work to accentuate the cheerful aspect of an animal themed shower. Construction paper or faux-palm trees with animal friendly stickers or stuffed animals will look great at this type of shower and can be easily made in just one afternoon.

Beach theme.
Nautical baby showers are extremely popular and can be lovely, even for individuals who live nowhere near the beach! Using silver sailboat place card holders and mini-metal sailboat food containers can help to create an ocean-side vibe, and hosts should plan on playing a CD of calming beach sounds in the background of the party as a conversational piece. Use traditional representations of beach life, like large sunhats, sunglasses and brightly colored towels, to decorate for this type of event.

Selecting a theme is one of the easiest ways to cut a party planning workload in half and hosts should consider choosing their theme early on to avoid party-week chaos.
